With a mix of sheltered swims, headland scrambles, soft-sand grinds, and cruisy Bay Trail running, the course finds that sweet spot between challenge and pure enjoyment.

Whether you go solo or share the journey with a teammate, the vibe is classic Swimrun Australia: supportive, energising, and filled with salty smiles and shared effort. This isn’t just another event on the calendar – it’s a feel-good adventure through Melbourne’s most iconic coastal pockets. Whether you’re flying solo or teaming up, every participant is placed into an age group and category that helps keep things fair and fun. While we’re not big on competition, we know some friendly comparison adds to the experience.

Here’s how we currently group participants: by age and by gender. As our community grows, we’ll continue to evolve these categories to reflect who’s joining us out on course.

In some cases, the Event Director may choose to extend cut-off times at their discretion, depending on conditions and course flow.

Curious about the fine print? Dive into the official event rules here.

Swimrun is about embracing the elements; but sometimes, the elements have other plans. While we always aim to deliver the full course as intended, safety is our top priority.

Occasionally, that means adjusting the course or making the tough call to cancel. Here’s how we handle those situations, and what it means for your entry.

Course Changes

For safety or other reasons, the course may be adjusted before or during the event.

If any swim legs are deemed unsafe, one or more may be removed. In rare cases, a fully run-only course may be introduced if swimming poses too great a risk.

If the course is modified, your entry fee remains non-refundable, as the event is still being delivered in an alternate, safe format.

Weather-Related Cancellation

If the event is cancelled due to severe weather, dangerous conditions, or other circumstances outside of our control (as outlined in Section 9.2 of the Event Rules), entry fees will also be non-refundable.

This includes cases where local authorities, landowners, or emergency services determine the event cannot go ahead due to safety or weather impacts.

We always aim to deliver the best possible event, but safety and environmental responsibility come first. Thanks for your understanding, and for rolling with the elements, just like a true swimrunner.

Be part of the magic behind the scenes as a volunteer on our event crew.

You’ll score some sweet merchandise and, if the salty smiles and soft sand grit inspire you, we’ll gift you a free solo entry to a future Swimrun Australia event.

Sound good? Add your name to our volunteer list and we’ll be in touch with the details.

Once you’ve entered, we’ll send you an Athlete Guide with everything you need to know to get ready for your swimrun adventure.
