Australian Swimrun Championship
Where legends are made.
The Australian Swimrun Championship is the pinnacle of swimrun in Australia. It’s where grit meets glory, where the top teams test themselves against the terrain – and each other – for the honour of being crowned national champions.
More than just a title, the Championship represents the heart and soul of swimrun: teamwork, tenacity, and total immersion in nature.

A storied start
The first Australian Swimrun Championship was held in 2016 on the rugged and iconic Sydney East course. For four years, it set the standard for the sport in Australia before the pandemic forced a pause from 2020-2022.
The Championship returned in 2023, stronger than ever, reigniting old rivalries, welcoming new talent, and marking the next chapter in the sport’s evolution.
Now, each year the Championship travels, shared between Swimrun Australia’s most challenging and scenic courses.
How it works
The Championship is:
- Contested by teams only
- Held over the longest distance event at the hosting location
- Open to all participants who meet the event’s eligibility criteria
Categories:
- Open Male
- Open Female
- Open Mixed (one male, one female)
There are no age groups; this is swimrun at its purest. The first across the line in each category are crowned Australian Swimrun Champions.
Why it matters
This is where performance meets prestige.
The names etched into our Championship history don’t just win; they inspire. Their efforts live on in course stories, in training dreams, and in the legacy of a sport that continues to grow across Australia.
To race in the Championship is to step into something bigger than the event itself. It’s a celebration of what’s possible when you move through nature, side by side, with purpose and heart.
Will you take the challenge?
Whether you’re returning to defend your title or daring to make your debut, this is your invitation to be part of Australian swimrun history.
We’ll see Enduro Teams on the start line at our 2025 Gold Coast event.
