Bec Putna’s swimrun story
Some adventures just make sense.
For social media influencer, Bec Putna, who already loved swimming and running, swimrun just made sense. Two things she was already obsessed with, combined into one epic coastal adventure. Ocean dips, trail hits, big views, and even bigger vibes, all shared with a crew of good humans.
It felt like the ultimate crossover.
And it delivered.
Real talk
From first send
to fully hooked
Bec shares the real story behind her swimrun journey, the nerves, the prep, the laughs, and why she’d 100% do it again.
Gold Coast
When Bec rolled into her first Swimrun Australia event on the Gold Coast, she wasn’t claiming pro status.
She was figuring it out in real time.
Training sessions where swim and run had to stop beefing and start working together. Gear tests that were a mix of “this slaps” and “absolutely not.” The behind-the-scenes chaos that never makes the polished post. And plenty of salty smiles in between.
What she realised pretty quickly?
Swimrun isn’t about being perfect. It’s about getting amongst it.
Short ocean dips. Coastal run sections. Big views. Good humans. Just the right amount of wild to keep things spicy.
Instead of stressing splits, she locked into flow. Instead of chasing pace, she chased the feeling. Moving through epic landscapes with a crew of adventurous souls just hits different.
She didn’t leave thinking about times.
She left thinking, “When’s the next one?”
Hooked.
Sydney North
Fresh off Gold Coast, Bec backed it up at Sydney North, this time teaming up.
If the first one was about “Can I do this?”, the second was “Let’s do this together.”
More harbour dips. More trail miles. More laughing mid-transition while trying to look semi-organised. Soft sand grit. Scenic crossings. That moment mid-effort where you glance up and think, “This is actually unreal.”
Her reels didn’t just show the course. They showed the vibe.
Connection.
Community.
That low-fuss, high-reward energy.
Sydney North brought tucked-away beaches, coastal tracks, and harbour swims that make you feel like you’re part of something bigger than just an event.
And again, it wasn’t about being the fastest out there.
It was about showing up, sending it, and finding that swim-to-run rhythm that somehow just works once you trust it.
Why Bec rates it
If you’re into ocean swims.
If you love a good run.
If you’re chasing experiences over ego.
Swimrun is 100% worth a crack.
You don’t need elite fitness. You don’t need next-level gear. You don’t need to “wait until you’re ready.”
You just need curiosity and a bit of send energy.
Her journey proves it’s doable, inclusive, and way more fun than it looks from the sidelines. Solo or teamed up, it’s a feel-good challenge that meets you where you’re at.
Still wondering if it’s for you?
Take this as your sign.
Get outside.
Get salty.
Go see what happens.
