Swimrun Australia

Swimrun Australia events are governed by a full set of official rules, but here’s the gist of what you need to know before lacing up and diving in:

Move with Respect

We’re all about fair play, safety, and shared adventure. Whether you’re flying solo or teamed up, look after each other, respect the places we play, and follow the spirit of swimrun: collaborative, responsible, and a little bit wild.

Eligibility & Entry

Each event has minimum age requirements, and entry must be completed online, with AusTriathlon insurance in place. Transfers are possible up to 3 days before the event, but refunds and deferrals have clear limits.

Conduct on Course

Good vibes only. Be courteous to fellow athletes, the public, and event crew. Stay safe, help others if needed, and don’t litter (or shortcut the course). Teams must stay within 10 metres of each other.

Course Basics

Stick to the marked course, follow instructions, and know your way around; it won’t always be signposted like a theme park. Safety changes can be made at any time, so stay flexible and keep listening out.

Gear Up Right

There’s some mandatory kit you’ll need to carry, including shoes, whistle, and your sense of humour. We provide vests, timing tags, and swim caps. Optional gear is fine—but leave the fins, headphones, and floaties at home.

Timing & Categories

We do record times and recognise age groups and categories, but remember, it’s not about the podium. It’s about showing up, moving through nature, and soaking up the experience.

In Case of Rule Breaks

For those racing, there are penalties for things like skipping gear, going off-course, or unsporting behaviour, but we’re not out to catch you out. We’re here to keep things fair, fun, and flowing smoothly for everyone.
