Swimrun Australia is pleased to announce the launch of the first new event since the change of ownership in early 2023 – Sydney North – set to take place on Saturday, 21 October 2023.
Sydney North is the sister event to our much-loved Sydney East event, located on the opposite side of the harbour and within sight of much of the original east-side course.
Designed as a true point-to-point course, participants will tackle either the 17.5km long course route or the 9.6km short course route, the latter offering a challenging distance on its own.
Participants will start their urban adventure at Clontarf Reserve, in the shadow of the Spit Bridge, before making their way along the popular Spit Bridge to Manly trail while passing through gorgeous National Parks abound with unreal scenery, ducking in and out of beautiful beaches and waterways before finishing with a run along one of Sydney’s most beloved beaches, Manly.

Throughout the course, participants will encounter incredible views across Sydney Harbour and Sydney’s Northern Beaches including the Heads, Sydney Ferries and flotillas of yachts. Participants will also pass by some truly magnificent landmarks including; heritage gun emplacements, marine reserves, Aboriginal sites and heritage-listed cottages.
The challenging yet ever-rewarding long course consists of 11 legs broken down into six-run legs consisting of 14.3km of running and five swim legs consisting of 3.1km of swimming. The short course is challenging in itself, offering the perfect introduction to the sport or an opportunity to take things a bit easier. It consists of seven legs broken down into four run legs consisting of 7.6km of running and three swim legs consisting of 2km of swimming.
The long course event also has an incredible 520m of total accent and the short course has 430m total accent, with both courses providing incredible 180-degree views of Sydney, the national parks and Sydney Harbour.
Entries are open and with limited spaces it’s recommended you secure your spot early.
