SWIMRUN AUSTRALIA SERIES
2024 SERIES
The Swimrun Australia Series is a chance to recognise the best and most consistent swimrun athletes and teams in Australia across a calendar year.
The Series differs from the Australian Swimrun Championship in that it is competed for over four events, not a single winner-takes-all race like the Championship.
Winners will be crowned in the SWIMRUN SHORT and SWIMRUN LONG races across all categories. SWIMRUN MINI and SWIMRUN SPRINT are not included.
HOW IT WORKS
- Earn points at four events in 2024
- SWIMRUN SHORT and SWIMRUN LONG races only
- Solo (Male/Female) and Team (Male/Mixed/Female) categories
- Top 3 (out of 4) event placings count to overall points
- Top 30 finishing places get points (1st = 60, 2nd = 58, 3rd = 56…)
- Points are only combined from the same race type and category
- Double points for the Australian Swimrun Championship event (Sydney North)
- Teams must consist of the same two athletes & race under the same team name
- Trophies and prizes will be awarded to the winners and podium finishers
- A major prize will be drawn from all athletes/teams that enter three events
The SWIMRUN World Championship Wild Card Recommendation
An official recommendation for a Wild Card entry into ÖTILLÖ, The Swimrun World Championship 2025/26 is up for grabs in the 2024 Swimrun Australia Series.
This opportunity is in recognition that there are significant barriers to Australian-based teams in qualifying for ÖTILLÖ, The World Swimrun Championship.
CONDITIONS
- This is a Swimrun Australia-supported Wild Card recommendation to ÖTILLÖ, not a guaranteed spot
- The team must prove the capability to be competitive to ÖTILLÖ standards over the 70km distance
- The team must be prepared to act as an ambassador for swimrun in Australia
- The team must fund its own entry fee and travel expenses to participate in the 2025 event in Sweden
HOW TO QUALIFY
- Points are earned in the 2024 Swimrun Australia Series
- Only SWIMRUN LONG Teams qualify (across all three categories)
- Teams must apply for consideration by Swimrun Australia and ÖTILLÖ via an application form due by 31 December 2024
The team will be chosen using the following criteria:
- Points in the 2024 Swimrun Australia Series
- Competitiveness to ÖTILLÖ standards over the 70km distance
- Will enthusiastically take on the role of ambassador for Swimrun Australia
The Swimrun Australia and ÖTILLÖ decision is final
How broken teams are recognised (i.e. through injury)
- Team must have raced together in at least two events
- The alternate team member must have collected points in at least two events in the same category
- The newly created team combine points earned across each of their top 3 events
Note: As this is the Series’s first year, there may be changes to how it works and the conditions and qualifications for the ÖTILLÖ recommendation. Swimrun Australia will do everything possible to ensure a fair and transparent competition, however, all decisions are final.
