One of the major benefits of getting into swimrun is the opportunity to experience the great outdoors.

Swimrun takes you into nature with many courses allowing participants to experience the beautiful scenic surrounds of the area both in the water and on the land.

Joining the sport of swimrun also allows you to explore more of Australia’s and the world’s most scenic locations, many of which you might have never been able to experience in this way before.

2. Become a part of a community

Swimrun is more than just a sport, it is a community, a vibe. Once you have a taste for the spirit of the sport, you’ll be hooked.

Whether you’re doing a swimrun in a team or as an individual you are never really alone, with every swimrunner embodying the spirit of swimrun and encouraging, cheering and supporting each other on the course.

The team racing and community-style event experience bring swimrunners together, many of whom become friends outside of the sport.

3. You only need minimal equipment compared to triathlon

For many, the best thing about swimrun is that it’s a multisport with the bike.

With triathlon, you need to purchase expensive bikes, spend hours training on the roads, and then drag them to every event with you, but with swimrun, you only need a swimsuit and running shoes.

Of course, you can add more equipment such as a pull buoy, paddles and tether if you choose but those things don’t take up much room and you can fit them easily into your suitcase to travel around with.

Some swim runners just like to race in togs or a tri suit and their runners with no equipment at all.
